Bowling - Balloch
Starting on National Route 7 by Bowling Basin, the off-road cycle track is an easy ride up to Dumbarton, where you see views of the Clyde. At Dumbarton you can visit the castle where Mary Queen of Scots hid as a child and has the longest recorded history of any British castle and dates back to 450AD.
Continue to follow the River Leven, which powered a host of leading industrial textile mills from the 18th Century. Once you see moored boats you’re near the journey’s end at Balloch. This route can be easily shortened as it runs close to several train stations.
