Swiss Valley Cycle Route

Llanelli has become a focus for traffic-free trails in the development of the National Cycle Network in South Wales: it lies at a halfway point in the magnificent Millennium Coastal Park with trails running west towards Pembrey Country Park and east towards Swansea while this route climbs up from Sandy Water Park into the rolling hills above the town, passing the Llanelli Rugby Ground, the Felinfoel Brewery, Cwm Lliedi and Upper Lliedi Reservoirs to its finish point at Cross Hands.
Near its northern end a signposted road route leads away from the railway path on quiet lanes to the National Botanic Garden of Wales at Middleton Hall. There is a gentle 550ft climb up from Llanelli so you are faced with a fantastic gravity-aided return back to the start.
